Story[]
Charles seem to have been fleeing a terrible past - he was chased by unknown people for unknown reasons -, and attempted to hide and live quietly deep in the woods, far from Castle Town.
While he was preparing to live forever, alone, in the Forest, Charles saw a very young girl - Yoki - crying in the middle of a glade. Willing to help her, he offered to search her sister with her, and let her sleep in his house one night - but no more, refusing to let anyone get implied with him. The next days, he tried to give her to a family in the Village - however each time he did so he found her next to his place a few moments later. Charles eventually gave up on trying and let her live with him during some years, which made him think of her as a sister.
While Charles discovered, over time, Yoki's ability to use magic, the King and Queen died against a BEAST-Type. Because of the worsened hatred towards BEAST-Types, he prudently advised Yoki not to let anyone see her magic, fearing that someone may take her for one. At the same time, he glimpsed a sword sticking in a tree, which was a hint left by the people after him. Knowing that he was in danger, and worse, that Yoki was, Charles decided to leave and to make them follow him, so that no one ever finds Yoki and makes any connection between her and him. He then disappeared without a trace.
Nothing is known of what became of him, except that he wrote a journal telling his story and left it in the Graveyard's house. It could also have been him that scattered its pages so that Yoki finds them.
